Garden sheds and Summer Houses have a range of windows. You will find that on garden sheds they are normally functional where as on summer houses the windows are a little more fancy. The type of material used in these windows varies from the decent and top end garden buildings down to the cheap mass produced sheds and summerhouses. On the better buildings you will find that proper glass has been used and the reason for this is that it is very stable. This means that it does not discolour, so you can see clearly through it all the time, nor does it move, meaning that you won't hear it moving in the wind.
On the cheap garden sheds and summerhouses you will find quite often that they will use plastic, perspex or acrylic. This often is thinner than glass which enables the these type of windows to flex and can be noisy when the wind blows. You will also find that over the years they will discolour and lose some of the transparency. These shed and summerhouse windows are also susceptible to unsightly scratches.- Continue reading --
Treating a garden shed can be a messy affair, certainly if I am doing it, so the advice is to wear old clothes which can be thrown away if too badly stained. Always bear in mind that many treatments can irrigate the skin due to the chemicals in them which help to preserve the wood. But always take your time and try not to splash the treatment. If you do get any treatment on your hands, face or skin ensure you wash this off straight away. - Continue reading --
The legendary huts and garden sheds at Bletchley Park, where the dedicated men and women during the second world war worked helping to save the lives of thousands and also shortening the war, are themselves being helped by a massive grant of £4.6 million from the Lottery fund. This is a welcome change from the usual rubbish causes which they come up with.
The grounds of Bletchley Park was home to many of the garden sheds and huts which housed many workers however very few knew what their work was for. The huts, which were built quickly, could be cold and draughty but that did not matter - what did matter was the end results. Gathered together were the country's most brainy mathematicians including many masters of chess as the logic required in chess was a required thought process. To start with all they had to work with was basic calculators (nothing like what we have today) slide rules, pens and paper - continue reading
Visit our Garden Buildings Display site at Sutton Green Garden Nursery situated at corner of Whitmoor Lane and Guildford Road (A320 between Guildford and Woking)
With our display site you can view our range of buildings although at the moment we do not sell any wooden sheds or heavy duty workshops called the Suffolk but maybe in the future.
Just thought I would let you know that the shed is now securely installed on its base frame and 4x4inch legs set on concrete pads. All wood is tanilised and it makes an impressive structure.
Thanks for your help and guidance.
